My love for soccer
My bet is that soccer is the most watched sport in the world, and the most popular. I’m Shane Jones and my favorite team is Manchester United from England.
My love for football can be traced from when I was a little boy. It’s true that boys love football but my admiration for soccer is kind of natural. I can vividly recall in 1992 when I was about 5 and used to sit together with my dad during most of the World Cup matches which were played during that period. Although I knew little about what was happening, I just watched it because my dad was doing; sometimes staying late in the night and I would fall asleep on the couch.
As I grew up, I would accompany my dad to watch football matches in our neighborhood and by the time I was in high school, I was a fan of Man U. By then Alex Ferguson was their coach and I really admired his ingenuity and his management abilities. I loved the way he was making history by thrashing other football teams and winning cups.
Therefore when my dad surprised me with a ticket to watch the FA Cup Final held in the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff-UK in 2005, I so excited. I’d maybe be more excited had Wembley Stadium been the place but it was still under reconstruction.
The match started off at an exciting and thrilling pace and loved the way my team, Man U, were taking n their opponents Arsenal and initially there were clear indications that we were going to win. During the initial 90 minutes, Man U outplayed Arsenal but as the 90 minutes were coming to an end, I started worrying. Despite the spirited efforts of Man U, we couldn’t get the back of our opponent’s net.
Our play was superb and the cheering was exciting even as the game went for an extra 30 minutes so as to give the teams another chance to score against their opponents. However, this too never came to be.
Therefore the winner was to be determined through penalty shoot-outs. If you are a soccer fan, you will agree with me that penalty shoot-outs can be tricky so by this time I was getting nervous. I could imagine travelling to the United Kingdom only to watch my team lose.
The Penalties shoot-outs
The penalties were taken superbly with Man U’s Van Nistelrooy giving us an earlier lead which was later cancelled by Arsenal’s Lauren. Paul Scholes was Man U next penalty shooter who also later became our nightmare for this cup final because his penalty kick was saved and all the next six penalties were successfully scored with Arsenal’s Captain then Patrick Vierra scoring the last penalty to send Arsenal fans into a burst of loud cheers while we disappointingly left the stadium.
Anyway, Wembley Stadium is now complete and you must agree that if there is a sporting event that you should truly watch or travel there and watch is the FA Cup Finals in this great stadium.
Why I loved Aspen
If you are planning for a great winter sports and you’ve got your pockets loaded, and some guts to adventure in the most revered and coolest ski resort in snow sports, then you should be heading for Aspen, Colorado-USA.
As much as the destination is reputed as the home of great snow athletes like Shaun White and other celebrities, models and the rich, the four Aspen Mountains have great snowy terrains for almost all winter sports and are just great for anybody.
When I visited the place in January 2012, I was completely overwhelmed by the serenity and amazing lifestyle during the day as well as the nightlife of the area.
Being a snow enthusiast since my childhood, I had been planning for a long time to go to a destination which was unique and stunning and it was in late 2011 that I decided it would be Aspen. Although I had earlier planned to visit the region in March when it’s a bit warmer, my eagerness drove me to reschedule it to mid January.
While there, my first destination on my first day adventuring was Aspen Mountains. I must admit that skating on the lovely slopes here offered a unique experience. There were many skating and snowboarding enthusiasts here but when I got there I realized that I should have brought a friend along.
I had a lovely morning skating before shifting to snowboarding down the beautiful terrains and by lunch time, I was feeling so great. Chatting with a lovely couple that I had met there, they suggested that I should conserve some energy for the night life.
This was my most exciting moment. The liveliness at night in this place leaves a lot to be desired by any visitor. From the hot and skimpily dressed ladies who grace various restaurants and places of luxury to the numerous live performances by great artistes as well as other theatrical performances just make the nightlife absolutely fantastic.
I spent the better part of the night drinking champagne as I chatted with several revelers whom I met, and was shocked when I realized it was past mid-night so fast. Having another busy schedule the following day ahead of me, I had to return to the hotel where I was staying and have some rest.
Anyhow, if you are considering having unique snow activities which will provide you with a special touch and treat, then Aspen should be your next destination next winter.
The Fast and Furious
My names are James Luck and this is my story of how I attended the most prestigious car racing sport.
I love cars. I love fast cars. I also love car races. Watching Formula 1 and other car races had been my passion since I was a little boy. I also loved TV shows and movies like Death Race or The Fast and The Furious chronology; also playing car racing video games such as Need for Speed was my thing. The Legendary Michael Schumacher is and will forever be my idol.
At the age of 17, I had assembled my own kit car, a Porsche 550 Spyder, which all my biddies were considering the “Darling of the highway”. Though they too had cars of their own, most of the time when we were going out for a drink, picnics or chasing after girls, we would often congest in this lovely car which had great admiration.
By the time I was 24, employed and with a stable job, I bought my first Ferrari. Although it was second-hand, it was well serviced. Cruising down the highway in the Ferrari always brought me some pride and I can’t count the myriad times when I was caught on the wrong side of the law because of over speeding or breaking some traffic laws. But born with a passion to drive, it was anything worrying.
Therefore, last years I thought that my best shot should be to attend the Monaco Grand Prix. If you don’t know, among the Formula 1 best car races, the Monaco Grand Prix stands out. This can be attributed to its stunning and awesome racetrack which is second to none.
The track is superbly made in such a manner that it can accommodate only one car and hence overtaking the other car in front become a challenge heightening the level of excitement and thrills as you watch the race.
On the day of the event, I was up early and joined other fanatics in the cheering, parting and thrilling adventure as we watched the cars being flagged of to start the race. Sunbathing in a yacht in the Mediterranean coast while sipping some champagne, a got the best views that I could have ever imagined.
The glamour, the thrill and the fun became my part for the better part of the morning while we tossed the champagne with other revelers and fanatic. My best moment was watching the drivers navigate through the tunnel at Nouvelle Chicane.
Every minute was worth the money that I had invested in my holiday. There were lovely people who had stylishly dressed great wine and a beautiful environment.
After the race was over, I joined other fans in partying all afternoon in the yacht and in the evening we continued our celebrations in a local restaurant which was hosting live performance. By mid-night, I was completely exhausted and I decided to call it a day.
A great sporting destination for snow lovers
Our body requires a healthy balance between our daily activities and some recreation to say fit. Whether you are a student in college, the summer vacations and college breaks are meant to help you rejuvenate your body by participating in activities other than class work which bring the body to balance.
This is also true for the working class; from those working in mines to office workers. The leave periods and off (this includes weekends) are meant for recreation. You need to have a positive balance so as to have optimal productivity when you get back to your daily tasks.
Sporting activities are key in offering solutions to the recreational needs that the body requires and thus a visit to a sporting destination can do the magic which your body and brain requires. This winter, over the Christmas period, I decided to take my wife and two kids to a sporting destination which was really amazing.
My name is Nick Collins. I’m married with two beautiful daughters, ages nine and seven. For a while I was thinking of the best Christmas gift that I could give to my wonderful family. I had several ideas in mind, but all of them seemed to be too predictable, and thus, I didn’t prefer them that much. But I needed to make a decision early enough before Christmas so that I could make adequate preparations.
That’s when the idea of taking my family to a sporting destination came into my mind. I researched online about the best sporting destinations with great winter sporting activities and those which were favorable to kids. It wasn’t an easy task and it took almost two days of through research, making calls and emailing several sporting facilities. Until I decided to settle for Whistler-Blackcomb, Canada.
I ensured that everything was in place and secured and early work leave and on the 23th of December we landed safely in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I have booked the motel that we would be staying and proceeded there to have some rest after the long flight.
Snow had already begun and on Christmas Eve, we decided to make a quick reconnaissance tour to the region. I wanted to make sure that we don’t get disappointed on Christmas when we were to start our week of fun and adventure. A quick visit to the Whistler and Blackcomb mountains on that day was enough to suggest that it would be a Christmas like no other. However the cold breeze made us get back to our motel early than planned. Maybe I should have planned for that too.
On Christmas day, the fun begun; my wife had some earlier experience snowboarding while she was in college and the idea of introducing our daughters to this great sporting activity really augured well with her. She was the one who went to choose the best programs for our girls in Whistler which was our first destination and I was really amazed by her choice.
She wanted a unique learning and adventuring experience for the girls and her choice never disappointed. We started with a designated kid’s center where the girls had some bit of learning in the lovely piste and their laughter and excitement made me realize how often we needed this as a family. Most of the morning time was spent here and after lunch break, we went for the family zone. Here, there was a combination of learning, adventuring and having fun.
Time went really fast than I thought, and before we realized it evening had approached. I never had the opportunity to take them to the ‘go slow’ zone as I had planned. By five, we called it a day and it was time to for some Christmas parting, so we went back to our hotel where we had made arrangements for a Christmas family party.
