Miraculous Cure of Irritable Bowel Syndrome
About two years ago, I got a shock on my life when I was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome. The disease really sucked. The first attack was during summer, and I thought that I was suffering from seasonal changes and that all would be well soon. About a week of taking over-the counter pills to counter the constant constipation, I decided that it was time for a medical check-up. Quick, the doctors were to pronounce that I was suffering from a disease was incurable. This really shocked and left me in disbelief. They diagnosed me with irritable bowel syndrome.
It is a disorder of the intestines, mostly the large intestines and it is characterize with that leads to abdominal pain, diarrhea, gassiness, bloating and abnormal bowel habits.
The fact that I was suffering an incurable stomach problem made me agonize and got me really scared as I didn’t know how I was supposed to manage the condition. I completely had a vague idea of the nature and extent of the new disease and got very discouraged when doctors pronounced that it was incurable. This was the first mistake that I committed because it would see me suffer for the next 8 months as I fought my absurd food intolerances.
The bloating, constipation, heartburn, gas and the fatigue involved left me completely weary and in vain. I quickly gave up on conventional medicine, although I still visited various healthcare providers in search for treatment. Instead of any workable solution my numerous and costly consultations would result to recommendations of various diets and drinks that I needed to observe. That was the best solution that I could get.
My family stood and supported me during the tormenting period but I always felt that that was not enough to keep me going. 4 months down the line, I seemed to be losing hope of cure.
One day as I was heading home together with my sister after a doctor’s appointment, I met with a naturopath on the bus to home. I do not exactly recall what led to the discussion of my condition, but one thing about her approach seemed genuine and I saw some light at the end of the tunnel.
The naturopath made me understand that my condition was self-correcting and what I need to achieve this was to strictly observe a dietary plan and a shift in my lifestyle.
Although her instructions seemed so similar to those given by the conventional doctors, I felt that I could trust the naturopath than the doctors. I ended up with a strict list of instructions on the diets which I needed to be eating and they majorly included fruits and vegetables. She also recommended high-end protein and low-carbs foods.
She was very helpful in helping me schedule sufficient resting time which she felt was most appropriate for my treatment.
A miraculous breakthrough came after 3 months of observing her dietary plan and rest periods. I was able to get cured from the irritating IBS. Not believing that I was no longer having food intolerances, I tried various restricted foods and visited several doctors who had attended to my condition and they also seemed not to understand how possible I got cured. But I was and I so glad to have tried alternative medicine.
How Safe is Alternative/Contemporary Medicine
At times our bodies feel tired, bloated, irritable or depressed. This may be a result of toxic overload in the body. These are some of the body symptoms which may indicate general body unwellness, but in the real sense, the attacking infection or disease may have failed to be captured or diagnosed.
More often than not, people who exhibit these symptoms may not visit the doctor because they feel that they are not directly related to any disease. However, in other instances you may find them rushing to a natural therapist to whom they seek treatment. This means that still, such a person suffers from a treatable condition and is supposed to check with a qualified medical practitioner.
The natural therapist may carry out a test — or battery of tests — to determine the real source of this abnormal feeling. Some test may involve physical examinations while others may involve the use of machines or blood tests.
Of course after the tests you expect certain remedies to be recommended- herbs, food supplements, a certain procedure etc.
There is one thing which is apparent from psychology. The very moment that you open up to someone else about what is bothering you, then that is the moment that you start feeling better. It is the very moment that you start healing. But that doesn’t in any way construe to healing or any cure whatsoever.
Whether you went see the clinician or you are confiding to you best friend or spouse. You will certainly feel confident that someone understand your situation and hopeful that they are telling you that you will get better. You get the better feeling to continue with therapy and strength to follow the prescribed instructions and drugs because of the confidence and hope, all of which plays a major role in the healing process.
But does that mean that all the test and instructions given by natural therapist work?
One fact we know about alternative medicine — and it is absolute — is that theirs is no scientific prove about its cure — they are untested methods, principles, treatments, knowledge and procedures. This literally means that there’s no guarantee whatsoever that you will completely recover from whatever illness that you are suffering from. Complementary or alternative medicine has been known to work outside the evidence-based realm of science.
There are multiple cases of people who’ve have traveled to far places in search for alternative medicine which have been believed to work, but in vain. People suffering from incurable diseases like breast cancer, HIV/AIDS, leukemia, tumors, bone cancers and more incurable diseases.
As much as we should not give it all up to fate, there are some diseases that people will spend so much money on but end up unsuccessful. More often than not, such individuals are dumped of their hard-earned earnings because of their desperate desire for a cure and end up bankrupt and still uncured.
It is therefore paramount to carry out due diligence before you go out to commit large sums of money and spend unnecessary time on something beyond you control. I won’t tell you to let fate take its course, but be wise and on the lookout.
Some of the things to look out for includes :
- A product which is advertised as a quick and effective cure for a wide range of ailments.
- The advertisers use words like scientific breakthrough, miraculous cure, exclusive product, secret ingredient or ancient remedy.
- The advertising/promoting text is written in “medicalese” – it is an impressive-sounding terminology to disguise a lack of good science.
- The advertiser claims the government, the medical profession or research scientists have conspired to suppress the product because they view it as a threat.
- The advertisement includes undocumented case studies/histories claiming amazing results.
- The product is being advertised as available from only one source.
- The general rule to always follow is “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”
My Successful Battle With Acute Depression
Have you ever felt so hopeless in life? Have even been so severely traumatized by a disease to the point of contemplating suicide?
I have. If you’re ever experienced or you are experiencing such disastrous moments of pain, discomfort, uncontrollable anxiety and hopelessness in life, then you know the how significant is the damage and the extent of severity which results to people suffering from acute depression. At times, doctors refer to it as Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), whose implications involve huge costs of treatment, breakdown of family ties as well as a disastrous personal life which might see you lose your job, fail to advance in your career and as well as give up on life.
It all started in 2009 when my colleagues and I decided to start up a company in the home-construction industry. Everything went well according planned. We were able to successfully launch the company and within 6 months of operation, we seem to be enjoying good returns. The real estate bubble during that period seemed to greatly favor us. The need to hastily expand the company in order to be positioned to enjoy better returns kept on piling pressure on us during those initial months and I greatly supported it.
Prior to this investment, I was a banker; married and with 3 kids and life didn’t seem to any burdensome to me. However, when we decided to start on this investment, I had quit my job so as to take a position in our construction company as the finance manager.
I never knew that the investment, would swiftly swindle my painfully saved cash which had cost me my 11 years of struggle and restraint to any luxuries.
Barely a year had gone since the start of our humble investment, before the whole venture came crumbing down our feet. The economic decline which seemed to be global prevailed during that year and with it went our life-time saving as the real estate industry was experiencing its worst hit ever. During the momentary period in operation, we had enjoyed good returns, our salaries were better and our dreams seemed to become realistic. However, it was during this period of around 7 months which seemed to be the longest days ever to endure as each day piled more pressure.
Long story short. The pressures continued to mount and we ended up becoming insolvent and the company liquidated.
By then, my stay-at-home wife, who was expecting our fourth child, and all our savings were already depleted by the construction company. To add salt to injuries, I was jobless.
Search for a new job began in vain. I sent multiple job requests to various organizations. Despite all that unsuccessful run, I still had to do all means to feed my family which was so stressful to a point that I never knew when I became so depressed. This was diagnosed later when my routine and behavior seemed to change for the worse.
I was diagnosed me with severe Major Depressive Disorder. It made me experience uncontrolled anxiety, mood swings and melancholic moments which would intermittently present themselves and disappear momentarily. Deeply I felt so much guilt and worthlessness especially with the birth of my fourth-born, whom I perceived as the source of my miseries and ended up loathing and hating her as well as her mother, my wife.
Realizing the severity of my condition, the therapist recommended a behavioral therapy on top of the meds prescribed. I was to attend session at the hospital’s Behavioral Clinic to help me recover my cognitive behavior. Several weeks into the program and on meds but nothing seemed to change. It became a situation of hopping from one therapist to another. I booked appointments with different psychiatrists but my condition continued to worsen.
I became more irritable and irrational. I would spend the whole day crying or lamenting in bed. The relationship with my family became so stressed that I separated with my wife who left with the children. This escalated everything because when they left, I started using drugs. I became completely pathetic.
A friend and partner of our collapsed venture, and who all along had helped during these trying moments, saw my worsened predicament and advised me on trying alternative medicine. At first I was reluctant but on his promise of helping me reconcile with my family coerced me to make a trial on these non-medicinal therapies.
Lifestyle changes was the most significant approach recommended and I was quick to grab and adopt it. I was also enrolled to other therapies such as problem solving therapy, physical therapy, spiritual reflection and the use of food and diet to manage depression.
The therapies helped me wind out negative thoughts and become more appreciative to the little good things which happen in life as well as believe in the spiritual intervention for my situation.
Lucky enough the guy helped by providing social and moral support during the 4 months stay at the hospital. He also made sure that my family would often come to visit and be with me during the stay.
I was able to get some peace of mind and enough regular sleep all which helped me manage the depression.
Is Addiction a Medical Condition Requiring Treatment?
That addiction is an illness, is a fact that many people never give a thought. Addiction is a condition whereby a person has no control whatsoever over an activity the person may be involved in emotionally or physically, or substance the person may be using or consuming. The person experiences a great urge and need to periodically get back to the activity or to use/consume the substance.
In medial cases, addiction is mostly focused on the use of physical substances. However, addiction may extend to even abstract things such as gambling, pornography or sex to seemingly harmless products such as foods.
In medical cases, addiction is diagnosed by detecting the great urge and almost absolute dependence on the use or consumption of a substance e.g. drug or alcohol addiction. The later symptom is usually accompanied by the lack of control on certain behaviors e.g. gambling addiction. There is always concern to detect a diagnose addiction early because if continue it can generate to harmful stages.
In substance addiction a person involves takes psychoactive substances such as alcohol or cocaine, which cross the barrier between the human brain and blood and then act in temporarily altering the chemical balance in the brain. This results to a feeling of excitement or elation during this temporal moment. If continued use of the substance is experienced, then such a person may always feel the urge to use the substance periodically because the brain becomes accustomed to it and proper and normal functioning is impeded without the consumption of the drug.
It however should be noted that a person’s brain can be accustomed to psychological dependence of some behavioral activities such as gambling, sex, work, internet, physical exercises etc., and these behaviors is not watched can too lead to addiction.
When a person becomes addicted to substances or habits, then such a person will have no control on the substance or habit and thus becomes dependent on it and will always find it difficult to cope with normal life without the substance or being involved in the activity.
The addiction may escalate with continual use and result to tolerance — an instance whereby the addicted person requires more regular amounts of the addiction substance or habit in order to experience the level of excitement and other effects which the substance or habit offers. If supply is cut short, the person experiences withdrawal, which can be traumatizing, painful and very unpleasant to the person and who will usually crave for more.
Such a state is usually recognize and diagnosed as a medical condition and requires treatment and therapy for the person involve to heal and lead a normal life.
