There are special times and events in our lives that we need to invite others to share with us as we celebrate the occasion; some events may need to have friends come along to support and encourage us e.g. during funerals.
Anyhow, there are special occasions when we really need people because the day of the event is one which needs to be etched in our minds and always remembered such weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, graduation ceremonies, and so on. Also there are specials occasions which we need to announce to our friends and families and let them know of their forthcoming date such as announcing the arrival of your precious bundle of joy.
Getting Creative
When creating invitation cards, postcards, folding cards, photo cards or return label cards for such special situations it’s necessary to use photos or images which are distinctive and special in such a way that they not only convey the intended message of the special occasion but express the perspective and also tell a story of how unique and important the event is.
They need to capture and predetermine the beauty and awesome moments of the special occasion and portray how significant it would be to document the event as well as make it memorable and completely etched in the minds of both the hosts and the invited parties. This means that the occasion will be an adventure in itself and worthy sharing the memorable events and photos with friends and families.
There is no doubt that you want to capture the memorable moments of the events which means that the photos or images used in invitation cards or taken during the celebrations or occasions should be unique, have distinct and special details such as their colors, texture, shades, light and also may include some special features like flowers, trees or the atmosphere of the special day.
Basically, they need to clearly express the beauty of the day and help bring friends and families together as they look forward for the great event.
At times they can also capture the emotions and moods of the event, but the necessary message which needs to be conveyed should address the interests and nature of what the event will be like. Even if it is an invitation to a funeral or a fundraising for a terminally ill person, let the images or photos used wipe away the worries and bring friends and families together to instead of mourn, celebrate the life of a person well lived.
The History
This was previously based on a photography business with beautiful samples of birth announcements, Christmas greetings, birthday invites, engagement announcements, newborn babies, children, weddings, and pretty much anything else. Also, each design was uniquely made to suit each person’s tastes. Anyways, I have decided to turn this website right around by making it a little bit more eye-popping. I’m not quite sure what at the moment, but however, stick around and you might be surprised! :)

Announcing Lily!
Or Melina… Whatever.
Yesterday was the best day, and an amazing start to a new life. I gave birth to my beautiful baby princess! I always have wanted a girl, named Lily. However, I did not name her Lily… Because my husband wanted to name her Milena. So since he always his way, I gave in…
He is not going to stop me from nick-naming my baby Lily, though.. What’s he going to do about it?!
I have decided to create a website with a whole bunch of pictures to show the world, and to all my friends and family my gorgeous brand new daughter. My husband will probably freak out if he ever sees me announcing Lily’s birth on her very own website, but I don’t care — I have about 10 000 family members and friends, that live in different countries, so a website would definitely be considered.
So, time to enjoy all of the beautiful pictures of my “Lily” scattered around the website! :)
You see how happy she is when I call her that?
Choosing Images/Photos to use in Gift Cards
There are different events and functions which require the use of photos and images to create invitation cards or gift cards. They include funerals, Christmas, birthdays, weddings, thanksgiving, dates etc. Each function or event is unique in its own and will require the use of unique images/photos and message in the creation of invitation or gift card which need to rhyme with the event.
For instance, funerals are moments of mourning and the images in funeral cards need to convey a message of sorrow or loss which was caused by the demise of a loved one. On the other hand, birthdays are anniversaries celebrated to mark the age of an individual and the ceremonies involved are marked with a happy and joyous moods. Hence images used to create birthday cards should express happy moments. They must convene an aura of love and encouragement as well as thanksgiving to God for enabling the person celebrating to make it to another year.
Photos which are used for creating event cards are usually useful especially in suggesting the nature of the event at hand. They should show and convey the necessary message of the intended event. This means that they should be designed and edited in a manner which enables them to retain the intended agenda and as well as convey the intended message without distortion.
For instance, if you are using a photo or image to depict a wedding event, then the image should express a mood of happiness and warmth which is typical feature for wedding ceremonies which are usually happy and memorable moments.
It’s also critical to use images or photos which directly relate to the traditions of wedding or marriages so as to induce positive acceptance from the invited guests.
When preparing an image to use in a card intended to invite guest for a set event, it’s vital to be keen and creative so as to ensure that the intended information is received and understood as soon as the recipient receives the card.
The photos should be visible and clear, easy to understand and the print be of high quality. The image used should directly correlate and suit the intended function.
Therefore when shooting or editing photos for events pay particular attention to the message to be convened and the mood expected during the event. Some events will require bright and colorful photos while others might need to be plain and less colorful. The message which accompanies them also need to be well thought of and should be selectively be printed to match the occasion at hand.
Choosing Cards for Special Occasions
Whether you’re going to a birthday party, celebrating a friend’s anniversary, or celebrating a special event with friends and family, a thoughtful card with unique images is a great way to show that you care. However, with so many cards to choose from, many people struggle with finding appropriate ones. In order make your card memorable, use this advice when choosing cards for special occasions.
Determine the Mood
The mood of the special occasion is going to be a deciding factor when choosing a card and it will determine which images or photos need to appear on the card.
Is it something serious like a funeral or a happy event like a wedding? You should decide on the overall tone of the occasion and choose the card which matches the mood of the event.
You also need to determine the mindset of the person or people receiving the card. When buying a card for a sibling’s birthday, choosing a very lighthearted or funny card is often appropriate. You have a level of familiarity with some people that allows you to poke fun at them and give them a funny card that they’ll truly enjoy. However, not everyone sees the humor in all situations.
While it may be funny to give a couple an anniversary card that pokes fun at marriage, they may not appreciate that type of humor. Some people enjoy the traditional heartfelt card which a saying or poem inside and beautiful images and lettering. By spending just a few minutes considering who will be the recipient of the card, you can determine the mood or tone of the card that will be most meaningful.
Consider Size
Cards used to come in one size, but you can actually find them in anywhere from very small to overwhelmingly large today. You’ll want to choose a card that comes in a size appropriate for the occasion. For example, if you’re going to write a simple greeting in the card, use a traditional size or small card. However, if you plan to write a significant amount of text or many people are going to sign the card, look for a larger option.
If the card is going to accompany a gift, you’ll want to look for one that matches the gift size. Having a huge card with a smaller gift can look slightly awkward so keep the size of the gift and it’s wrapping in mind when you’re looking for the card. This aspect is not as important as some of the others, but can make the presentation look better overall.
Consider Text and Writing
Many people look at the image on the card, but don’t pay much attention to the writing on the inside or outside of the card. Many times there is a short saying or poem written in the card so make sure to read through this writing and determine if it’s appropriate for the occasion. When you can’t seem to find the right saying, look for a blank card and instead write your own words inside.
These are some of the key considerations when buying and giving a card for a special occasion.
Although a card is a small aspect, you can create meaningful gestures by spending a little extra time picking out your card.
Baby photography creates a new world for me
My passion for photography started while I was still young. When I turned 16, my father gifted me with his old camera, and I never looked back. I would walk around with my camera strapped around my neck, looking for any image that I could immortalize. It is not a surprise that I chose to venture into photography business. I figured that I could could make money out of my passion. So after I graduated from photography school, I bought a brand new camera and some assorted lenses, and decided to give a career in photography a shot (No pun intended) .
My first job was working as a freelance wedding photographer. After talking to a few professionals who had been in the field longer, I was made to believe that covering weddings was what would give me the satisfaction I needed. However, I didnt get what I was looking for. First, the pressure was too much for me to handle. Most of the weddings I covered had too many instructions and pressure that removed the joy out of the work.
There were too many papers to sign, too many contracts, too many rehearsals, and basically too much work. I am not suggesting that I hate work and wanted a free ride. What I mean is, the needs of the bride and the groom sometimes got very overwhelming. I always felt like I was walking on eggshells – as if a heavy burden had been put upon my back and there was no way I could put it down.
My work schedule included instructions that stretched on and on. “Make sure you cover these…” were some of the demands I met, followed by a winding list that often seemed impossible. The worst part is, I was dealing with anxious brides and grooms who were looking for nothing but perfection. The yelling, running up and down, and constant swearing was not something I enjoyed doing So, after a few years, I decided to quit; not photography business, but doing wedding photography.
I branched into baby photography, and I got what I wanted. Doing photo shoots of new born babies, and capturing the details of their innocence is what gives me satisfaction. I love how real baby photos are. They are so unaware of the camera, and this makes it easy to capture the raw emotions and beauty of humans and their surrounding.
Sometimes, when I look at the images I take, I cannot help but marvel at the numerous possibilities that being a baby brings. Everything about them is so pure and delicate, and I get so much pleasure in creating these images.
What makes baby photography even better is the joy of the parents. The pride that comes with the ability to bring new life into the world is always written all over their faces. To be a part of this joy, and to help these parents immortalize everything is one of the greatest gifts of being in photography business.
I have been exposed to different circumstances that I believe have made me not only a better photographer, but a better person. I have photographed first time parents and gotten images that depicted both excitement and uncertainty. I have taken photos of a family that is welcoming home their new born who has special needs, and I have also done shoots of pre-term babies who later blossomed into perfect cute babies.
Being able to do these shots have built me in so many ways, and that is why I have stayed in baby photography for so long. I love each single day that I work with babies and their parents.
